Located across the bay from San Francisco, Alameda County comprises 14 cities and two unincorporated towns. With a diverse population of over 1.5 million residents, Alameda County offers everything from first class shopping and restaurants to museums, entertainment, parks and recreation, and professional sports-Oakland boasts professional baseball, football, and basketball teams. The county is also home to UC Berkeley, one of the top rated universities in the nation.
Major employment centers are located throughout the county, allowing residents to work close to home. In addition to Highways 880, 580, and 680, the area is served by public transit including BART, ferry service to San Francisco, as well as AC Transit buses.
