One of the 27 original counties in California, Contra Costa County was incorporated in 1850. The county comprises 20 cities and communities, each offering a unique environment and lifestyle benefits for the county's 1, 029.000-plus residents.
Contra Costa County is bordered on three sides by water and it's focal point is Mount Diablo, which rises to 3,849 feet at it's peak. Commuters enjoy easy access to local business parks-and with county transit and AC Transit buses serving the area, plus 10 BART stations in the county, transportation options are plentiful.
Also located in the region are numerous parks, major retail centers and shopping malls, fine restaurants, a regional Center for the Arts, and the Chronicle Pavilion, which draws many of today's top musical talents.
