El Dorado County
http://www.co.el-dorado.ca.us/
Composed of over 30 cities and unincorporated communities, El Dorado County borders Sacramento County on the east and extends to South Lake Tahoe. Served by Highway 50, the county rises into the hills and mountains of the Sierra.
The region offers a recreation-oriented lifestyle with opportunities for hiking, fishing, camping, and horseback riding at nearby parks, skiing at South Lake Tahoe, and white water rafting on the south fork of the American River. A number of historic sites like Hangman's Tree, Marshall Monument, and Gold Bug Park, which offers an underground tour of an actual gold mine, pay tribute to the county's colorful past.
